The Viking Age ended more than nine centuries ago, yet no Scandinavian longship has survived intact to the present day.

Ragnfrid's Saga, an eleven-minute dark ride included with standard admission, layers cinematic projection and animatronics onto a guided boat journey through a stylized Norse settlement. The ride follows a fictional merchant's daughter from a coastal village through a trading expedition to Constantinople, blending historical detail with narrative compression. While the attraction leans toward theme-park spectacle, its production design reflects consultation with Uppsala University's Department of Archaeology and Ancient History. Dialogue is delivered in reconstructed Old Norse with subtitle options in Swedish and English.

Guided tours in both languages depart hourly from the main atrium and examine the museum's twenty-two thematic zones, including sections devoted to runestone epigraphy, the Christianization of Scandinavia, and the genetic legacy of Viking-age migration. The institution's restaurant, Sága, serves contemporary Nordic cuisine with menu notes linking ingredients to medieval trade corridors.
